Movensys has introduced a new concept of software-based Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) integrated solution called "Skylla Nova" (hereinafter referred to as Nova) that goes beyond the dualized control method of AMR.
Nova is a software-level solution that combines Movensys' motion control solution, WMX, and MIT-based autonomous driving technology. Nova consists of only one software without the world's first separate board and hardware, and can control autonomous driving, robots, and wheels in real time. This can optimize the efficiency of battery and electric space by replacing multiple controllers composed of robots, wheels, and autonomous driving within AMR with one software, and can greatly improve position and operation precision.
In particular, through a recent customer demonstration test, the electric space has decreased by about 40% compared to the existing control system, and the robot's movement speed has increased by about 33%. In addition, it was revealed that the precision of the robot arm improved by about 85%, and that it secured the result of improving the work productivity by about 58% by shortening the Tact time.
Mobile Manipulator (MoMa) equipped with Nova is a key competitive edge that can precisely control the operation and movement of robots based on high-speed real-time performance. Currently, it is targeting application in back-end process of semiconductor that require accurate movement and fast operation in narrow space, and it is planning to start Proof of Concept (PoC) testing with multiple global OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) companies within this year.
In addition, Movensys is developing a technology that enables autonomous robots to communicate and collaborate with workers in the process by incorporating Generative AI technology into Nova with its subsidiaries Skylla Technologies (hereinafter referred to as Skylla) and Korea University until June 2027.
The announcement was made at a Private Show hosted by Movensys, where Nova was showcased alongside other demonstration equipment that integrates cutting-edge IT technologies, such as generative AI. In October, Kei Uruma, CEO of Mitsubishi Electric Group, visited Movensys headquarters to watch the demo for a long time and discuss on potential future collaboration.
After watching the demo, CEO Uruma said, "It was Impressive. The company is also conducting a similar technology convergence, and it was interesting that Movensys easily implemented new convergence technology through software beyond the limited performance and connectivity of hardware." The two companies signed a strategic business cooperation relationship in 2023, and they decided to seek closer technology development and business collaboration not only in Korea but also across Asia in the future.
The Movensys' Private Show also featured demonstrations of four main technologies including Nova. The MoMa equipped with Nova showed high-precision maneuverability through rotation in a narrow space as well as agile avoidance during autonomous driving.
The second demonstration is the implementation of high-precision synchronization control between different robots and servos with one WMX software. The biggest difference is that more than that of high-precision synchronization control has been realized with only WMX without a dedicated hardware controller of a general 6-axis robot.
The third demonstration is the implementation of two-axis synchronous control of the world's fastest 31.25 μs communication cycle through the CC-Link IE TSN network. This shows the overwhelming soft master performance of WMX and is interpreted as a technology that will lead the field of ultra-precise motion control that will become more sophisticated and detailed in the future.
The last demonstration is the most ideal form of no-code solution that can combine Generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) and WMX to control real robots and equipment in natural language. It is expected that even those who do not know machine language can write sequence programs of equipment through general natural language, thereby removing entry barriers for WMX application.
Movensys will continue to study strengthening motion control stability and performance advancement, which is the essence of WMX, and will continue to promote convergence with various new technologies such as LLM (Large Language Model).
Movensys' chairman Boo-Ho Yang said, "The identity of Movensys is to continue technological innovation, and we will work more with various technology and market leaders, including Mitsubishi Electric."
